Below, I have attempted to provide a documentation of everts that axpdadn the current situation and provide the justi8oation for this request. My property in Autumn Woods is a vacation home that I do not inhabit for several months of the year, Including the summer. In August I received a bill for around $2,000.Upon receipt of this big I was shocked as our bill was historically less than $60 and I knew that no one had been using the home. I called customer service and atWlainsd to the representative who answered that there must be a mistake or that someone must have topped Into our water. We also aalled the Autumn Woods Association office to find out If there were any other homeowners who had similar issues and were told no. We have since find out that there have been several people who have had problems with the public water and being billed incorrectly. At about the same time as we. received the now bill we reoeived a letter from the Collier County Water Distribution Department, Joseph Thomas wrote us a letter regarding a'cross connection' Issue. I caged him and explained to him that we do not live at the property fug time and that we seam to have a mystery going on. We have owned the property for 3 years and we have never had an issue such as this, Some major evert must have happened to trigger this event. He triad to explain the cross connection issue to me and said he would have someone most us on the 26th. They met with us and could not really figure it out. They out and capped a pipe and concluded that • there was Indeed it cross connection. I appealed to Commissioner Hallas and he responded "They have researched this complaint and also the history behind It and this the findings by the county. There is nothing that can be done in correcting the water usage, but the county is taking into effect that a adjustment to the sewer service will be credited to your bill° Thus far we have been credited the sewer charge of W.oe and penalty fees. Over the last month we have been gathering additional information to dispute this finding which I will present at the January 13" meeting, Thank -you Derne_tri'a (1Chhaadbourne a r'li/" "a.. O . •
