WHEREAS, Legal Aid Service of Collier County is a private, non-profit law firm serving Collier
County residents who face matters of life-changing significance including survivors
of domestic violence; the elderly, disabled, and veterans seeking benefits; abused,
neglected, and abandoned children; families facing foreclosure, eviction and
homelessness; immigrant victims of exploitation and human trafficking; and learning
disabled children in need of educational support and services; and,
WHEREAS, Legal Aid Service of Collier County has provided free, civil legal services to more
than 20,000 of the most vulnerable and economically needy Collier County residents
since it was formed in 2004; and,
WHEREAS, by using the law to provide a safety net, Legal Aid Service of Collier County
endeavors to protect the safety, health, and basic economic security of the most
vulnerable members of our community; and,
WHEREAS, Legal Aid Service of Collier County provides a wide range of legal services which
address affordable housing, economic development, and the support of other non-
profit agencies and start-up businesses serving low- to moderate-income
communities; and,
WHEREAS, Legal Aid Service of Collier County will be honoring those who have rendered
outstanding pro bono service to the community at the annual Barrister's Bash the
evening of April 25, 2019, at the Hilton Naples; and,
WHEREAS, by providing these services for free to those who cannot afford legal assistance
and who would otherwise go without vital representation, Legal Aid Service of Collier
County ensures access to justice through the local court system for all residents of
Collier County.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, honors Legal Aid Service of Collier County for its dedication to serving the
most vulnerable members of the community and making Collier County a safer, more
equitable place to live, work and play.
