EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve and authorize the Chairman to execute the attached Resolution
authorizing execution of Contract No. G1643 with the Florida Department of Transportation for
construction of the Aircraft Apron and associated Airfield Safety Improvements at the Marco
Island Executive Airport.
OBJECTIVE: To accept grant funding from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) in the
amount of $614,732 for the aircraft apron, including terminal demolition and Taxiway B construction at
the Marco Island Executive Airport (MKY).
CONSIDERATIONS: The Board ratified acceptance of a grant offer for $3,555,411 from the Federal
Aviation Administration on September 25, 2018, Agenda Item 16G1 to fund construction of airfield
safety improvements at MKY. The required local match was $394,823.
At that time, the Airport Authority indicated that it would request funding from FDOT to offset the
required local match and to fund bid alternates and/or construction engineering services not funded by the
FAA. The Airport Authority has received a grant offer for $614,732 from FDOT for this project to offset
the FAA match, and to fund construction engineering services.
Additionally, Authority staff is seeking additional funding from the FAA/FDOT to fund additive
alternates associated with ITB 18-7366. If awarded, any additional grant funding will be brought back to
the Board for subsequent approval at that time.
FISCAL IMPACT: Budget Amendments are necessary to recognize FDOT grant revenue in proj ect
number 33484 in the amount of $614,732 within Airport Grant Fund (498). Funds for the required local
match of $317,481 exist within the Airport Grant Match Fund (499), project number 33484, and is
allocated as follows.
