EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation that the Board, acting as the Collier County Airport Authority, approve the
attached Change Order #2 to the Hangar Repair Contract with Alen Construction Group, Inc., to
extend the schedule provided in Agreement No. 18-7332 by twenty-five days.
OBJECTIVE: To authorize a change order that will provide sufficient time for the contractor to repair
hangars at the Marco Island (MKY) and Everglades (X01) Airports damaged by Hurricane Irma to pre -
storm condition.
CONSIDERATIONS: On December 10, 2018 (Agenda Item 16G2), the Board of County
Commissioners (“Board”), acting as the governing body of the Collier County Airport, approved
Agreement No. 18-7332 with Alen Construction Group, Inc. to repair the hangars damaged by hurricane
Irma at the Everglades Airpark and the Marco Island Executive Airport for $541,296. The repairs were to
be completed in one hundred and twenty (120) days.
Change Order #1 added a task to replace two (2) damaged I-beams and extended the schedule by twenty-
four (24) days to provide sufficient time for installation of the I-beams and delivery of the hangar door
motor mechanisms. Weather-related logistics in the Midwest has caused further delays in the
manufacturing and delivery of the motor mechanisms. The contractor has requested an additional twenty-
five (25) days to allow for the manufacture and delivery of the materials necessary to complete the
repairs.
Staff has reviewed this request and recommends approval of attached Change Order #2.
FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact associated with this Change Order.
GROWTH IMPACT: There is no growth impact associated with this Executive Summary.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is approved as to form and legality and requires majority vote
for Board approval. -SRT
RECOMMENDATION: To approve attached Change Order #2 to Agreement # 18-7332 for Alen
Construction to extend the schedule by twenty-five (25) days and authorize the Chairman to sign the
attached Change Order.
