PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the State of Florida is dedicated to improving air quality,
reducing traffic congestion, promoting health and physical
fitness, and reducing energy consumption; and,
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation, District One,
through its Commuter Services Program, contributes to these
state goals by reducing traffic congestion and lowering
greenhouse gas emissions throughout the region by promoting
the use of alternative commute modes; and,
WHEREAS, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners and Collier
Area Transit (CAT) are promoting "Try Transit Day" on April
13th, to raise awareness of our routes in Collier County; and
WHEREAS, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners encourages
the use to Transit to access various destinations including the
following April 13, 2019 Earth Day Events:
• Immokalee Pioneer Museum: "Recycling in Immokalee"
• Conservancy of SW Florida: Earth Day Festival
• Botanical Garden: Blooms and Brews
WHEREAS, CAT will offer free rides on April 13" - "Try Transit bay",
for the convenient use public transit.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners
of Collier County, Florida, that April 13, 2019, be designated
as
TRY TRANSIT DAY IN COLLIER DAY
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 9th Day of April 2019.
