EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to appoint two members to the Tourist Development Council.
OBJECTIVE: To reappoint one member and appoint one new member to the Tourist Development
Council, to four-year terms expiring on April 21, 2023.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Tourist Development Council (TDC) is a 9 member council created on
March 23, 1992 by Ord. No. 92-18 to make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners
regarding a proposed plan of uses for tourist development tax revenues, for the effect ive operation of the
special projects or uses of the tourist development tax revenues, and to review all expenditures of
revenues from the tourist development trust fund. Membership consists of the Chairman or other member
of the BCC, 3 owner/operators, 3 non-owner/operators and 2 elected municipal officials. Terms are 4
years. A list of the current membership is included in the backup.
Two seats on this committee will expire on April 21, 2019, including one representing Everglades City.

ATTENDANCE: Mr. Hill has had three excused absences in the past two years. Attendance records are
included in the backup to this item.
COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: At its meeting on March 25, 2019, the TDC considered the
Mr. Hill’s application and voted unanimously to recommend that he be reappointed to his seat on the
TDC. A recommendation memo is included in the backup to this item. Also included is a letter from
Mayor Grimm requesting that Ms. Brock be appointed to the TDC as the representative for Everglades
City.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Committee
Recommendation, and directs the County Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the appointments.

The Tourist Development Council met on March 25, 2019 and reviewed the
following candidate applications for the current vacancy on the TDC
Advisory Committee effective April, 2019.

Clark Hill Owner / Operator
The Tourist Development Council recommended Clark Hill for re-
appointment to the owner operator position by an 8-0 vote. Please forward
this recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners for
consideration at the 4/9/19 meeting. I have enclosed the candidate’s
application on the accompanying document. Mr. Hill had three excused
meeting absences over the last two years of service.

in tourist development. Of the 6 non-government members, one shall be appointed upon
recommendation by the governing body of Everglades City. Terms are 4 years.
