EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize execution of the budget amendment from 911 Emergency
Phone System Fund (611) Carry Forward in the amount of $150,000 for a 9-1-1 Backup
Facility.
OBJECTIVE: To authorize execution of the budget amendment in the amount of $150,000 for
a 9-1-1 Backup Facility.
CONSIDERATION: The Collier County Sheriff's Office needs to have a 9-1-1 Backup Facility
at the Estates (D-4) Substation, due to the fact that the previous back-up facility at the Golden
Gate (D2) became too small and the 9-1-1 infrastructure is out of date with our current
technology.
FISCAL IMPACT: A budget amendment is needed in the amount of $150,000 from the 911
Emergency Phone System Fund (611) carry forward.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT: None.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, is
approved as to form and legality, and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners (1) authorize execution of
the budget amendment for the 9-1-1 back-up facility.

Attached is the list of console furnitue required to outfit the empty shell space at the Estates
(D4) substation. As you arc likely aware, our previous back-up facility at the Golden Gate (D2)
substation b€came too small and the 9- l - l infrastructure out of date with our current technology.
Since approximately 2012 we have designated our mobile 9- l - l /Communications vehicle as our
9- l - l back-up (although we have never had to move the entire operation to the vehicle).
It is our long-term goal to design a mbust back-up center at thc Forensic Scieaces Building that
is in the planning phase at this time.

MEMORANDUM
With a previous upgrade ofour Vesta 9-t -l system we purchased ten CommandPost 9-1-l call
taker positions to be housed in a back-up center. The CommandPoss will connect back to the
corc CCSOA{PD 9-l-l network via diverse networ.k patfts. We worked with the (prcvious)
CCSO Facilities Director to locate space within the county that was suitable for this purpose. and
the D4 facility, while not the most optimal for long-term needs, it will be sufficient for the next
several years. This will allow us to move 9-l-l call takers to the shell space, and dispatchers to
operate from the 9- l - l /Communications vehicle, parked ouBide rhe substttion. It will also be
minimal inconvenience for the currcnt operations at the substation.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
This proposal is based upon work being perforrred during regular working hours (8:0O8m to
5:00pm) with geoeral access after business hours and weekends. AZTEK rescrves th€ riSht to
change this schedule with cuslomer approval in order to simpli$ installation.
This quote is contingent upon the actual conditions ard may rcquire adjustrnents affecting the
scope of work. In the possibte event that an unforcseen impediment or limiting condition is
encountered. AZTEK will immediately notiff Collier County IT and seek an a$e€sble
alternative solution. Collier County IT must approve any necessaD/ changes and change
orders in advance.
WARRANTY:
AZTEK warrants that at the time of completion of work, each ircm fumished and installed by
AZTEK will be tee from defecs in workmanship. AZTEK also warants thar AZTEK's
installation workmanship will remain free from defects for a period of One - (l) year from
date of acceptance by Customer ('\varraDty p€riod).
Satisfactory proof of defect must be provided to AZTEK and AZTEK must rrceive
notification ofdefect within the warranty period.
This warranty does not extead to any items which have beerr subjected to misuse, rrglect,
accidental damage, or &mage due to installation or operalion not in accordance with
AZTEK's instruction, nor to any item which has been altered or repaired by any organization
other than AZTEK or the original equipment manufacturer.
