Steven M. Seibert, Executive Director, Florida Humanities Council
Steven M. Seibert oversees Florida Humanities Council work in developing, funding, and
sponsoring hundreds of public programs annually that explore Florida's history, culture, values,
and ideas in communities around the state. He is a graduate of The George Washington
University, where he was chosen for Phi Beta Kappa, and a graduate of the law school at the
University of Florida. Following graduation, he practiced environmental and land use law in
both the public and private sectors. He was elected to two terms on the Pinellas County
Commission and served as its chairperson twice. He is a past chair of the board of the Florida
Humanities Council and of The Village Square, a Tallahassee -based nonprofit dedicated to
promoting civil discourse. For over a decade, Seibert has served on the Board of Directors of the
Mosaic Company, a Fortune 500 company. He currently serves on the Board the National
Federation of State Humanities Councils and became the executive director of the Florida
Council on January 1, 2017.
