PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the Zonta Club of Naples has been an active component of Zonta
International in Collier County for 46 years (since 1973); and,
WHEREAS, Zonta International envisions a world in which women's rights are
recognized as human rights, and where every woman can achieve
her full potential. In such a world, women have access to all
resources and are represented in decision making positions on an
equal basis with men; and,
WHEREAS, in such a world, no woman lives in fear of violence or sexual
harassment; and,
WHEREAS, Zonta International strives to promote and protect the human
rights of all women and girls with local and international service
projects and initiatives such as awarding grants to United Nations
agencies that seek to change personal and/or political knowledge,
attitudes, and behaviors that contribute to violence against women
and human trafficking; and supporting local initiatives including
PACE School for Girls, the Teenage Parenting Program of
Immokalee and Naples, the Shelter for Abused Women and
Children, and Path2Freedom.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that the Board of County Commissioners of
Collier County, Florida, hereby recognizes the Zonta Club of
Naples for its contributions to numerous local women's initiatives.
