EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize Ben Bullert, Senior Project Manager, Public Utilities Department as
the January 2019 Employee of the Month.
OBJECTIVE: To recognize the efforts and accomplishments of an employee who has made significant
contributions to the organization and to our community.
CONSIDERATIONS: Ben has been with Collier County for 2 years and works in the Public Utilities
Engineering & Project Management section.
From the beginning of his employment at Collier County, Ben has demonstrated his vast knowledge in
the field of public utilities. In the last two years, Ben has been the Senior Project Manager for 53
projects. These projects all had significant residential impact where communication and coordination
were critical to avoid undue inconvenience, and all were excellent examples of Ben going above and
beyond the scope of his regular duties and responsibilities.
The Goodland Drive Water Main Replacement project required extensive coordination with local
businesses in Goodland and had to meet stringent stone crab season deadlines. All those involved,
particularly those in the crabbing industry, were elated that the project was completed ahead of schedule
and had minimal, if any, impact on their business.
The Orange Tree Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion project had an estimated cost of $3M. Ben
promoted the idea of using the time -saving Design-Build method for this project, a first for Public
Utilities. While Ben’s focus is on water projects, he volunteered to manage this wastewater project to
share his Design-Build experience while expanding his technical knowledge.
Despite his heavy work load, Ben always finds time to give his fellow project managers a hand. He has
wonderful organizational skills that help him keep up with the heavy work load he carries. He is focused,
detail oriented and is a financial steward for the County. Ben is a true asset to Collier County, and very
deserving of this award.
FISCAL IMPACT: The selected “Employee of the Month” receives a $150.00 cash award. Funds for
this are available in the employee’s budget cost center.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There are no Growth Management Impacts associated with
this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: To approve the recognition of Ben Bullert as the January 2019 Employee of
the Month.
