EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to reappoint a member to the Collier County Code Enforcement Board, and
reclassify an alternate member as a regular member.
OBJECTIVE: To reappoint one member to the Collier County Code Enforcement Board, to a three-year
term expiring on February 14, 2022, and reclassify an alternate member as a regular member to fill the
remaining regular vacancy.
CONSIDERATIONS: This seven-member board, plus two alternates, was established pursuant to
Chapter 162 of the Florida Statutes by Ordinance No. 07-44, as amended, and is composed of individuals
representing the occupations of architect, business owner, engineer, general contractor, subcontractor and
realtor, and who are considered for appointment based on their experience or interest in the areas of the
codes and ordinances to be enforced. Members are required to file a Form 1 Statement of Financial
Interest each year with the Supervisor of Elections. Terms are 3 years. This is a quasi -judicial board. A
list of the current membership is included in the backup.
One seat on this board expired on February 14, 2019, and there are two additional vacancies for a regular
and an alternate member. The vacancies were advertised and an application was received from the
following:

There is currently one alternate member on the Code Enforcement Board, Mr. Ryan White. In the absence
of other applicants, an alternate may be reclassified as a regular member to fill a vacancy.
ATTENDANCE: During the past two years, Ms. Elrod has had no unexcused absences.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: As a quasi-judicial board no committee recommendation is required.
Staff recommends that Ms. Elrod be reappointed to her seat on the Code Enforcement Board, to a new
three-year term expiring on February 14, 2022, and also recommends that Mr. Ryan White be reclassified
from alternate member to regular member. Recommendation memos are included in the backup.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Staff Recommendation,
and directs the County Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the reappointment and reclassification.
