EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to appoint one member to the Immokalee Beautification MSTU Advisory
Committee.
OBJECTIVE: To appoint one member to the Immokalee Beautification MSTU Advisory Committee to
a four-year term expiring on September 23, 2022.
CONSIDERATIONS: This five-member committee was created by Ord. No. 85-65, amended by Ord.
Nos. 90-8 and 92-40, to assist the Board of County Commissioners in the business affairs of the
Immokalee Beautification Taxing District, and prepare and recommend an itemized budget to carry out
the business of the district for each fiscal year. Membership represents the population of the area within
the Immokalee Beautification District. Ord. No. 2002-52 was adopted on 10/22/02 changing membership
as follows: four members shall be permanent residents within the MSTU and one member may be an
owner of residential or commercial property within the MSTU or may be an appointed representative of a
business located within the MSTU and an elector of Collier County. Ter ms are four years. A list of the
current membership is included in the backup.
On September 23, 2018, the expiration of one residents’ seat on the committee created a new vacancy.
The vacancies were advertised, and applications were received from the following:

COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: At its meeting January 23, 2019, the committee voted
unanimously to recommend that Mr. Johnson be appointed to a seat on the committee, to a term which
shall expire on September 23, 2022. Mr. Johnson is a representative of a business within the MSTU and a
waiver is requested of that category requirement. Staff supports the committee’s recommendation. A
recommendation memo is included in the backup.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Committee
Recommendation and directs the County Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the reappointment.
