RESOLUTION NO. 2005-2.62
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, IN
SUPPORT OF A WESTBOUND ENTRANCE
RAMP/ACCELERATION LANE ON INTERSTATE 75 FOR
MINING TRUCKS FROM THE NORTH BELLE MEADE
OVERLA Y AREA OF THE COUNTY.
WHEREAS, recent comprehensive studies performed on behalf of the Board have
concluded that there is a scarcity of rock suitable for road building on lands within Collier County
where mining is allowed by the County's Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, Florida Rock Industries, Inc. ("Florida Rock") owns approximately 1,000
acres of Receiving Lands within the North Belle Meade Overlay ("NBMO") area where mining
for rock suitable for road building is allowed and encouraged by the Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, Florida Rock has asked the County Commission to support Florida Rock's
request for approval from the appropriate state and federal agencies to construct a westbound
mining haul route entrance ramp/acceleration lane on Interstate 75 located between the tollbooth
and Everglades Boulevard.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that:
The Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida urges the Florida
Department of Transportation and United States Department of Transportation to approve an
application to be filed by Florida Rock for a westbound temporary special use access permit for
an entrance onto Interstate 75 for loaded road material trucks, in order to minimize truck impacts
on internal rural roads and urban streets, and to minimize the cost of constructing future improved
roads within CoWer County by expediting construction time and reducing the haul distance for
aggregate products.

and majority vote favoring same.
