02/12/2019 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to award a Work Order to Bonness, Inc., for construction of the “Immokalee Road at Valewood Drive and Oakes Boulevard Intersection Improvements” project in the amount of $295,794.72 (Project #60016.29). OBJECTIVE: To approve a Work Order for roadway safety improvements to extend the existing east bound left turn lane from Immokalee Road onto Valewood Drive and to prohibit west bound left turns from Immokalee Road onto Oakes Boulevard. CONSIDERATION: On December 3, 2018, Transportation Engineering staff sent construction plans and a bid schedule to four (4) construction companies under contract with the County under Agreement #16-6663 for Roadway Contractors. Staff requested quotations for construction services for the Immokalee Road at Valewood Drive and Oakes Boulevard Intersection Improvement project utilizing that Agreement. On December 20, 2018, the County received four (4) bids, as follows: Contractor Bid 1 Bonness, Inc. $295,794.72 2 Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC $386,797.25 3 Wright Construction Group, Inc. $449,451.22 4 Preferred Materials, Inc. $483,388.22 Staff determined the lowest bid was fair and reasonable and recommend awarding the work order to Bonness, Inc. The Procurement Services Division concluded that bidding was competitive. Bonness’ bid is 9 % lower than the engineer’s estimate of $324,066.75. The work order and bid analysis is attached. FISCAL IMPACT: The anticipated cost for this roadway improvement project is $295,794.72. Funding is available within Transportation Gas Tax fund 313, project 60016. The estimated useful life of a roadway improvements is 20 years, with minimal to no repair cost during that duration of time. GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: This project is consistent with the Transportation Element of the Growth Management Plan. LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is approved as to form and legality and requires majority vote for Board approval. -SRT RECOMMENDATION: To award a Work Order for “Immokalee Road at Valewood Dri ve and Oakes Boulevard Intersection Improvements” to Bonness, Inc., in the amount of $295,794.72, and authorize the Chair to execute the attached Work Order.
