EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to appoint two members to the Library Advisory Board.
OBJECTIVE: To appoint one new member and reappoint one member to the Library to serve four-year
terms expiring on December 31, 2022.
CONSIDERATIONS: This 5 member committee was created by Ordinance No. 88-71 to advise the
Board of County Commissioners on the operations and proposed budget for the Collier County Library
System. Membership is composed of 5 members representing the 5 commission districts. Terms are 4
years. A list of the current membership is included in the backup.
One seat for District 1 and one seat for District 3 expired on December 31, 2018. The pending vacancies
were advertised and applications received from the following:

ATTENDANCE: Ms. Bettinger has had perfect attendance during the past two years.
COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: At its meeting on October 17, 2018, the committee reviewed
the above applications and unanimously recommended that Ms. Joan Louise Hochschild be appointed to a
seat representing Commission District 1. At its meeting on December 12, 2018, the committee
unanimously recommended that Ms. Bettinger be reappointed to her seat representing Commission
District 3, both to four-year terms expiring on December 31, 2022. Recommendation memo is included in
the backup.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Committee
Recommendation, and directs the County Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the appointments.
