EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize a Budget Amendment within Parks Capital Fund (306), from
Community Park Playground Maintenance, Project 80305 to Vineyards Community Park
Playground, Project 80402.
OBJECTIVE: Replace the playground at Vineyards Community Park.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Parks & Recreation Division (Division) received $175,000 in the FY19
Capital Budget, Fund (306), to replace the playground at Vineyards Community Park. The Division
requested the funds be deposited into Project 80305, ComPk Playground / Shade Structure Maintenance,
to show local match funding for two (2) playground grants, each with a 50% match requirement. If both
grants are awarded, the Division will be able to replace the playgrounds at Vineyards Community Park
and East Naples Community Park.
Because the grants can be awarded for projects that are under construction or that have been recently
completed, the Division is moving forward with the replacement of the playground at Vineyards
Community Park. For proper financial tracking of a County asset, the funds need to be moved to a new
project number specific to the new asset: Project 80402 Vineyards ComPk Playground. Staff is
recommending deferring the replacement of the playground equipment at East Naples Community Park
until the currently engaged master plan for that park has been completed.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funding in the amount of $175,000 is available in Parks Capital Fund (306), Project
80305.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management impact.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This Item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, raises no legal
issues, and requires majority support for approval. -JAK
