EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize the on-line auction of Collier County surplus
property.
OBJECTIVE: To sell County surplus property no longer of use to County departments and obtain
revenue for the County.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Purchasing Department has scheduled an on-line County surplus
property auction for a thirty (30) day sale period ending no later than January 30, 2010. The
auctioneer on contract, Atkinson Realty & Auction, will be conducting the on-line auction.
Attachment A-Collier County Surplus Items contains the items that no longer have a useful
business purpose and will be included in the auction.
In an effort to dispose of additional surplus hems received by the Purchasing Department prior to
the on-line auction, staff is requesting permission to add additional surplus items that may be
received subsequent to the preparation of this Executive Summary at the on-line auction.
Staff is also requesting approval to accommodate requests for donations received from other
government entities or a legitimate Florida Non Profit 501 (C) (3) organization prior to the auction
pursuant to section 274.05, Florida Statutes.
All items sold, or donated, and their realized values will be reported to the Board in a follow-up
Executive Summary after the auction event.
Collier County is currently under contract with a full service auctioneer, Atkinson Realty & Auction,
Inc., to provide services to include preparation for the event, sale and disposal of all Collier County
owned property, and transfer and disposition of all property titles. This sale will be conducted
pursuant to Section 274.06, Florida Statutes.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management Impact associated with this
Executive Summary.
FISCAL IMPACT: The auctioneer commission and miscellaneous auction expenses are paiel from
the auction sale revenue; net sales revenues are returned to the general fund or enterprise fund
that paid for the acquisition of the asset.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: Chapter 274, Florida Statutes provides guidelines for the disposition
of surplus property. This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney's office and is legally
sufficient for Board action. --CMG

Collier County property for a thirty (30) day sale period ending no later than January 30, 2010
