Agenda 12/15/2009 Item # 5C Agenda Item No. 5C December 15, 2009 Page 1 of 5 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY PRESENTATION OF THE POSTHUMOUS ADVISORY COMMITTEE OUTSTANDING MEMBER AWARD FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER, 2009 TO CHARLIE ABBOTT OBJECTIVE: To recognize and reward an advisory committee member posthumously for his outstanding and dedicated service to Collier County. CONSIDERATIONS: On September 21,2004, the Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution No. 2004-280 to recognize and reward outstanding Advisory Committee members for their significant contributions to the organization and/or community. The respective committees nominate the outstanding Advisory Committee members and the Awards Committee (same committee that currently selects the Employee of the Month) evaluates and selects volunteers from the nomination forms. The objective of this program is to recognize significant contributions to the organization and/or community by members of the many advisory boards and committees formed to assist the Board of County Commissioners in carrying out their elected duties. AWARD COMMITTEE RECOMMENDA nON: Charlie Abbott Development Services Advisory Committee To be accepted by Mrs. Linda Abbott. Charlie always followed what he thought was the best understanding of the ordinance. He had an excellent attendance record and he never worried about stating his mind when it came to government. He was involved in budgeting sub-committees, LDC Sub-committees and software company presentations. Charlie was involved in the selection of the Hanson software system that turned into City View which has just started its implementation at CDES and, unfortunately, Charlie will never see its full effect.
