EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to reappoint three members to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.
CONSIDERATIONS: This seven-member committee was created by guidelines established on
November 25, 1975 and confirmed by Ordinance No. 93-81 to advise the Board of County
Commissioners on any matters concerning acquisition, development and programs involving parks and
recreation facilities in Collier County. Membership consists of one member from the Immokalee
Community Park District, and six members from the Naples and Urban Area Community Park District.
Terms are 4 years. A list of the current membership is included in the backup.
Three seats on this committee representing the Urban Area Community Park District and the Immokalee
area are expiring on December 31, 2018. The vacancies were advertised and applications were received
from the following:

RECOMMENDATION: At their meeting on December 12, 2018, the committee did not gain a quorum
to vote on the reappointment of the three members listed above. The staff liaison is recommending the
reappointment of these three individuals to gain a quorum for their January 16, 2019 me eting. The
reappointments will be four-year terms expiring on December 31, 2022.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Committee
Recommendation, and directs the County Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the reappointments.

Our three incumbents terms expire December 31, 2018 and we were unable to gain a quorum for
consideration of their reappointment today at our Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting. I
would like to recommend that:

• Phil Brougham
• Ski Olesky
Be reappointed for another term on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and considered by the
Board at the January 8, 2019 meeting. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meets again on January
16, 2019 and without these appointments, they will again be unable to obtain a quorum.
