EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve and authorize the Chairman to execute the attached Resolution
authorizing execution of Contract No. G0Z16 with the Florida Department of Transportation to
design and permit Security Enhancements at the Immokalee Regional Airport. (Fiscal Impact:
FDOT 200,000; Local Match $50,000).
OBJECTIVE: To accept grant funding in the amount of $200,000 for the design and permitting of
security enhancements at the Immokalee Regional Airport (IMM).
CONSIDERATIONS: The existing terminal building at IMM was built in 1996, prior to when many
aviation security recommendations were adopted. An airport security inspection completed by a third-
party security consultant identified several potential security issues, the details of which are exempt from
public disclosure. This grant will enable the Airport Authority to design and permit enhanced security at
IMM and provide a safer and more secure airport environment.
The estimated cost of this project is $250,000. The Authority has received a grant offer from FDOT in the
amount of $200,000. The local match of $50,000 is available in Fund 496.

Total Estimated Cost $250,000
It is expected construction will commence upon completion of design in FY20. Additional FDOT funding
in the amount of $480,000, with a local match of $120,000, as outlined in the Department’s Work
Program, is expected at that time.
FISCAL IMPACT: Budget Amendments are necessary to recognize FDOT grant revenue in project
number 33604 in the amount of $200,000 within Airport Grant Fund (498), and to allocate funds from
Airport Fund 496 for the local match in the amount of $50,000 within Airport Grant Match Fund (499).
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with this

LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is approved for form and legality and requires a majority vote
for Board action. - JAB
RECOMMENDATION: To approve and authorize its Chairman to execute the attached Resolution
authorizing the execution of the FDOT Contract No. G0Z16 with the Florida Department of
Transportation to fund the designing and permitting of security enhancements at the Immokalee Regional
Airport in the amount of $200,000 and authorize the necessary budget amendments.
