EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize a $193,000 budget amendment to reallocate funding for the purchase
of 29 replacement pumps for pump stations for the Public Utilities Department Wastewater
Division Collections System.
OBJECTIVE: To reallocate budget within the Collier County Water-Sewer District (CCWSD)
Operating Fund (408) to align with the preferred accounting approach.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Collier County Wastewater Division operates more than 850 pump stations
with more than 1,700 installed Flygt pumps. The adopted Wastewater Division operating budget provides
funding for pump replacements under the capital outlay expenditure category. Upon review it has been
determined that the preferred accounting approach is to classify the replacement pumps as an operating
expense. Accordingly, the budget is proposed to be reclassified from capital outlay to operating expense
by budget amendment.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funding for pump replacements is p r o v i d e d in the Collier County Water-Sewer
District Fund (408) adopted budget. A budget amendment is required to reallocate/reclassify budget from
capital outlay to operating expense.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, raises no legal
issues, and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There are no Growth Management impacts associated with
this action.
RECOMMENDATION: To authorize a $193,000 budget amendment to reallocate funding for the
purchase of 29 replacement pumps for pump stations for the Public Utilities Department Wastewater
Division Collections System.
