P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, the inaugural Paradise Coast Wellness Experience is a one-day event
that will be held in Collier County January 19, 2019, powered by the
Paradise Coast Wellness Tourism Visionary Task Force; and,
WHEREAS, the Paradise Coast Wellness Experience will attract wellness seeking
vacationers, leisure travelers, wellness events, meetings and conferences
to Collier County, putting wellness tourism on the map for Florida’s
Paradise Coast; and,
WHEREAS, the event will feature wellness events all over Collier County for
residents as well as visitors, and will celebrate our community’s ranking
as the “happiest, healthiest place in the U.S. for the 3rd consecutive
year as designated by the Gallup-Heathway’s State of American Well-
Being Community Rankings; and,
WHEREAS, there will be events such as wellness paddling trips, wellness walks,
Swamp Meditation, Purpose workshops offered by Sharecare; 12 hours
of wellness at the JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort with
activities ranging from floating yoga, to meditation, to Pilates, zero
stress zone flash meditation at Mercato, an Open Mind Zen Naples
Meditation class and dozens more wellness activities available both free
and for a fee all over Collier County; and,
WHEREAS, the economic impact to Collier County will grow over the years with
wellness groups, conferences, events and wellness vacationers who spend
typically "...130 percent more than the average traveler and is an up
and coming travel trend that is becoming an $800 billion global
industry”; and,
WHEREAS, the popularity of wellness tourism fits the healthy lifestyles for our
seniors, our youth, and everyone in between, providing a fun way to stay
fit and active on vacation, in meetings and events and teaches lifetime
wellness skills while traveling and living.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida, that the Board recognizes
