EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve a Resolution renaming Creekside Street to Innovation Drive.
The subject street is located in the southwest quadrant of the Immokalee Road and
Goodlette-Frank intersection, in Section 27, Township 48 South, Range 25 East, Collier
County, Florida. [SNR-PL20180002011]
OBJECTIVE: For the Board of County Commissioners to consider a Resolution to rename
Creekside Street to Innovation Drive.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Petitioner has met the requirements for requesting a street name
change under Section 22, Article X, Collier County Code of Laws and Ordinances.
The subject street is entirely within Tract R, Creekside Commerce Park West - Unit Two. A
petition in support of the proposed change, signed by sixty-six percent of the property owners
abutting the street, is required to be submitted. In this case, the applicant has provided support from
one hundred percent of the property owners abutting Creekside Street. A “supermajority vote of at
least four affirmative votes, shall be required to effectuate the renaming of the street or roadway”
(Section 22-357, Collier County Code of Laws and Ordinances).
FISCAL IMPACT: Fiscal impact will be incurred in the form of staff time spent noting changes
on plats by the Engineering Section, map changes by the GIS Section and address records by the
Addressing Section; these impacts have been considered as part of the $500.00 review fee paid by
the applicant. Fiscal impact to the Fire District, Sheriff, Post Office, Emergency Medical Services,
the Emergency Operations Center, and 911 Emergency Services will be incurred in the form of
costs to update records and maps. The Petitioner will bear the cost of purchasing and installing new
street signs.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: The renaming of the street will have no impact on the
growth management plan.
NEIGHBORHOOD INFORMATION MEETING: A Neighborhood Information Meeting was
held at Arthrex Inc., 1370 Creekside Boulevard on November 7, 2018. The applicant and County
staff were the only attendees.
LEGAL CONSIDERATION: This is a request to change the name a platted street, Creekside
Street, to Innovation Drive. Pursuant to Section 22-358(a)(1) of the Collier County Code of Laws
and Ordinances, a petition to rename a platted street requires that 1) the applicant must verify with
the Addressing Section of the Collier County Growth Management Department that the proposed
street name is not a duplication, and 2) applicant state the reason for the name change. This item
has been approved as to form and legality, and requires an affirmative vote of four. -- SAS
COLLIER COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: The Collier
County Planning Commission does not review street name change petitions.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends that the Board approve a Resolution renaming
Creekside Street to Innovation Drive. The subject street is located in the southwest quadrant of the
Immokalee Road and Goodlette-Frank Intersection.
