EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to appoint a member to the Historic/Archaeological Preservation Board.
OBJECTIVE: To appoint a member to the Historic/Archaeological Preservation Board to a three -year
term expiring on October 1, 2021.
CONSIDERATIONS: This committee is vested with the power, authority, and jurisdiction to designate,
regulate, and administer historical and archaeological resources in Collier County, under the direct
jurisdiction and control of the Board of County Commissioners. Membership is composed of 7 members
from the following categories: history; archaeology; real estate, land development, or finance;
architecture; law or urban planning; and two citizens at large. Terms are 3 years. A list of the current
membership is included in the backup.
There is one vacant seat on this board. The vacancy was advertised, and an application was received from
the following:

COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: At its October 19, 2018 meeting, the committee voted
unanimously to recommend that Mr. Thompson be appointed to the Historic/Archaeological Preservation
Board, to a three-year term expiring on October 1, 2021. A recommendation memo is included in the
backup.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Committee
Recommendation and directs the County Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the appointment.
