Backup Documents 12/14/2010 Item # 4CPRO CLAM A TION 4C WHEREAS, the Collier County Recycling Ordinance Number 2009 -56 adopted by the Board of County Commissioners established the Waste Reduction Awards Program (the WRAP award), • and, WHEREAS, the WRAP award recognizes businesses, institutions, and multi-family residences for enhanced and innovative recycling programs; and, WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is pleased to recognize Northgate C lub Apartments for contributing to the greater good of Collier County by advocating the 'Reduce, Reuse and Recycle messages to their residents, tenants, and staff, thereby he /ping to prolong the usable life of the Collier County Landfill; and, WHEREAS, aspects of Northgate Club Apartments' recycling and source reduction program includes; • Increasing its single stream recycling containers from zero to four placed throughout the apartment comp /ex to co/ %t cardboard, paper, plastics, glass, and aluminum. • Adding one bottle-shaped recycling container placed next to the pool and clubhouse area to collect water bottles, aluminum cans, and glass, rm /ting in more recycling by the residents. • Reducing the garbage pfe pup from four times per week to three times, which reduced the cost of their garbage fee and allowed management to add one more single stream recycling container throughout the apartment comp /ex. • Providing an excellent bulky item collection program for the residents to dispose of their furniture, fixtures, household goods, and electronic materials so they don't end up in the trash dumpster. And, WHEREAS, the WRAP awa t'd program includes a framed certificate, a trophy, use of the WRAP logo, and space on the co /liergov.net /recycles website showcasing eco- friendly business practices and recycling programs; and, WHEREAS, the So /id Waste Alanagement Department congratulates Co/een Fernandez, Manager, and a// the staff of Northgaft Club Apartments, for their outstanding efforts to promote waste reduction and recycling, promote emn'ronmenta/ awareness, and setting a positive example for other multi- family communities. Their initiatives will have a significant effect on sustaining the usab /e fife of the Collier County Landfill and protecting the environment. NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that we congratulate NORrm9ATE CLUB APARTMENTS for their continued contributions and efforts in recycling.
