WHEREAS, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is
the nations oldest recognized grassroots-based civil rights organization,' and,
WHEREAS, the mission of the NAACP is to ensure the political, educational, social, and
economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and
racial discrimination wherever it exists,' and,
WHEREAS, the Collier County Branch of the NAACP is hosting its 28'" Annual Freedom
Fund Banquet on Saturday, October J6, 2010 while also celebrating JOJ
years of the national NAACP,' and,
WHEREAS, the theme of the dinner and awards ceremony will be "One Nation, One
Dream': the function being held at the Hilton Naples and Towers and will be
an evening of celebration and hopeful expectations of generous giving by
attendees,' and,
WHEREAS, the fundraising and dinner is an integral part of this celebration,' and,
WHEREAS, the speaker for the event will be Rev. Frank Peterman, Jr., Secretary of the
Florida Department of Juvenile Justice and former Florida State
Representative of District 55,' and,
WHEREAS, the proceeds of this event will be used to further the endeavors of the
Collier County Branch of the NAACP as it follows the principtll objectives of
the NAACP constitution.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida, that October 16, 20JO, be designated as
COLLIER COUNTY BRANCH NAACP 28TH
ANNUAL FREEDOM FUND DAY
DONE AND ORDERED THIS J z;" Day of October, 20JO.
