PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, the future of our state depends on the quality of early childhood
experiences provided to our young children; and,
WHEREAS, of the 1.34 million children under the age of six in Florida,
approximately two- thirds of them are in some form of child care
at least part -time; and,
WHEREAS, quality child care facilities and providers help ensure the well-
being and success of young children throughout Florida; and,
WHEREAS, the Early Learning Coalition of Southwest Florida administers
state and federal funding for School Readiness and Voluntary
Prekindergarten programs, resulting in an investment this year of
$40,716, 102 into Southwest Florida's economy; and
WHEREAS, the 2010 observance of Provider App vcIation Day calls attention
to the importance of high - quality child care services while
honoring providers for their dedication to our children.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of
Collier County, Florida, that May 7, 2010 be designated as
CHILD CARE PROVIDER APPRECIATION DAY
and encourage all Collier County residents to recognize the
positive impact of quality child care services in the development
of young children in Collier County.
