PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, the children of Collier County are a precious port of the fabric of our society and
the nurturing of our children can be taken on by the family, schools, and in Collier
County we are fortunate to have several charities and organizations that also
provide opportunities for the development of children and today we are honoring The
First TEE of Naples/Collier: and,
WHEREAS, The First Tee organization has stated aims of reaching out to children of all
backgrounds to provide, through golf-related exercises, nine life-enhancing core
values of honesty, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship, respect,
confidence, perseverance, courtesy and judgment: fundamental values that will
remain with the child for life: the Naples/Collier chapter of The First Tee is this
month celebrating its second anniversary: and,
WHEREAS, The First Tee of Naples Collier has several programs given across the County
including Life Skills, The First Tee Junior Tour, middle school golf programs and a
special program to provide golf clinics to children in Immokalee, all these programs
built around the nine core values stressed by the organization: and,
WHEREAS, Collier County prides itself on being amongst the foremost destinations for golfers
recognizing the quality and number of golf courses and facilities that are available
along with year-round optimum weather, it is fitting that The First Tee of
Naples/Collier should take advantage of our extensive facilities and with a
dedicated group of people, work for the betterment of children from all over Collier
County: and,
WHEREAS, the support of the professional golf community is freely given f/Dtionally to the First
Tee organization and on February 11th, 2010 we are going to see an
example of this generosity and commitment when during the Ace Group Classic at
the Quarry the day will be named The First Tee Pro-Am Day and all children aged
18 and under will be given free admission: and,
WHEREAS, therefore to recognize the outstanding work carried out by The First Tee of
Naples/Collier and recognizing the contribution made by the professional golfing
community the Board of County Commissioners joins the Ace Group Classic
organizers.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, that we recognize the outstanding work carried out by The First Tee of
Naples and designate February 11; 2010 as
THE FIRST TEE OF NAPLES/COLLIER DAY
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 9th Day of February, 2010.
