EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to appoint two members to the Bayshore Beautification MSTU Advisory
Committee.
OBJECTIVE: To appoint two members to the Bayshore Beautification MSTU Advisory Committee, to
fill the remainder of currently vacant terms.
CONSIDERATIONS: This 7-member committee was created on December 16, 1997, by Ordinance No.
97-82 to assist the BCC in carrying out the purposes of providing curbing, watering facilities, plantings
and maintenance of the median strips of roadways within t he MSTU; providing traffic calming
improvements; and beautification and maintenance of other areas within the MSTU. The committee
prepares and recommends an itemized budget to the Board of County Commissioners. Members must be
permanent residents or owners of commercial or residential property within the MSTU. Terms are 4
years. A list of the current membership is included in the backup.
There are two current vacancies on this committee. The vacancies were advertised, and applications were
received from the following:

COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: At its regular meeting on October 3, 2018, the committee
reviewed the applications and unanimously recommended that Mr. Bixler be appointed to the committee
to fill the remainder of a vacant term expiring on March 3, 2021, and that Ms. Crum be appointed to fill
the remainder of a vacant term expiring on March 3, 2020. A recommendation memo is included in the
backup.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Committee
Recommendation and directs the County Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the appointments.
