Backup Documents 05/11/2010 Item # 4E' 4E PROCLAMA TION WHEREAS, The Salvation Army is motivated by a love of God and a love of mankind; and, WHEREAS, The Salvation Army serves as a symbol of compassion and an active participant in the provision of emergency services to thousands of men, women and children in Collier County, most recently the feeding of 850 Immokalee families for 7 weeks after the severe frosts of January 2010, and, WHEREAS, The Salvation Army Naples Corps provides spiritual counseling and basic human necessities to those in need and hurting on a daily basis; and, WHEREAS, The Salvation Army has touched the lives of so many by providing programs and services to residents for more than 27 years; and, WHEREAS, The Salvation Army played a vital part in emergency disaster services after Hurricane Wilma and the brush fires of past years; and, WHEREAS, The Salvation Army provides its services with compassion to all people in need without discrimination. NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that May 10 - 16, 2010 be designated as SALVATION ARMY WEEK and urge all citizens to join us in honoring the dedicated officers, employees, volunteers, and supporters of the Salvation Army.
