PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, Hodges University, formerly known as International College, is an
independent, non-profit, co-educational institution with campuses in Naples
and Fort Myers, with learning sites on the campus of Edison State College,
Pasco-Hernando Community College, South Florida Community College,
Immokalee at Jubilation and Florida Keys Community College; an"-
WHEREAS, Hodges University was founded in 1 g90 based in a rental facility in Naples
with only B5 students. In 1992, the University opened a branch campus,
again in rental facilities in Fort Myers, and expanded its academic
programs to include a program "English as a Second Language" with
attendance reaching 491 students, the total number of graduates
exceeding 6,000; an"-
WHEREAS, in 1993, the University began its quest for regional accreditation with the
Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
and was granted candidacy in 1996, membership as a Level II institution
{bachelors leveO in 199B, and in 1999 received approval to offer masters
degree programs with the Universitys accreditation being reaffirmed by
the Commission in 2003 for 10 years; an"-
WHEREAS, in 1999, the University had in place the infrastructure to move from
college to university status, but the administration wanted to wait unt/1 the
name of the College could also be changed. In 2007. International College
was renamed Hodges University, in honor of its main benefactors, Earl and
Thelma Hodges; an"-
WHEREAS, their mission statement reads "To offer Associate, Baccalaureate and
Graduate degrees as well as other programs that enhances the ability of
students to achieve life or career objectives':' an"-
NOW THEREFORE. be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida, that we congratulate
HODGES UNIVERSITY
for their 2dh Anniversary and wish them continued success in the future.
