EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to extend the term of the Interlocal Agreement between Collier County and the
City of Everglades City, relating to damage caused by Hurricane Irma, to March 31, 2019.
OBJECTIVE: To continue providing assistance to Everglades City in support of their recovery efforts
from the effects of Hurricane Irma.
CONSIDERATIONS: At its September 26, 2017 regular meeting, the Board entered into an Interlocal
Agreement with Everglades City to provide assistance, staffing, and/or funding in response to the
extensive damage caused by Hurricane Irma.
On March 27, 2018, at the request of the Mayor of Everglades City, the Board approved a six -month
extension to this agreement, bringing the termination date to September 30, 2018. The Mayo r, once
again, requested an additional six months, through March 31, 2019, be added to the term of the
Agreement. Due to the extent of this event and the complexities involved in requesting reimbursement
through FEMA, staff believes it is in the mutual best interest of the City and the County to grant this
request.
FISCAL IMPACT: Upon conclusion of the recovery efforts, the County will provide the City with a
detailed invoice outlining all actual costs incurred by the County, including staff time. The C ity will
repay the County, without interest, when the City is able to do so.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, is approved as to
form and legality, and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management Impact associated with
this action.
RECOMMENDATION: To approve an Extension of Interlocal Agreement between Collier County
and the City of Everglades City to March 31, 2019.
