Agenda 09/25/2018 Item #16D1109/25/2018 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to authorize execution of the FY18 Section 5339 grant award from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) in the Transit Award Management System (TrAMS) and authorize a Budget Amendment in the amount of $411,466 for paratransit software and warranties; and new bus shelters. OBJECTIVE: To obtain grant funds for the management of the Collier Area Transit (CAT) system. CONSIDERATIONS: On June 26, 2018, the Board of County Commissioners (Board) authorized the submittal of a grant application for the FTA 49. U.S.C 5339 FY18 grant funds in the amount of $411,466 to purchase new software for paratransit vehicles, warranties for vehicle locator software, and the design, purchase, and construction of bus shelters. The grant requires a twenty (20%) percent match. Collier County received approval from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to use toll revenue credits as a soft match for the grant in the amount of $102,867. On August 30, 2018, staff received notification of award from FTA. Following Board approval, execution of the award is processed through TrAMS by the Public Services Department Head, who serves as the Board’s appointed designee. FISCAL IMPACT: A Budget Amendment is required in the amount of $411,466 to recognize the grant revenue to CAT Grant Fund (424) Project 33591. Collier County has received approval from the FDOT for the use of $102,867 in toll revenue credits as a soft match in FY18 Capital Grant Funds. GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: This Item supports the goals and objectives of the Transportation Element of the Growth Management Plan.
