EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize a budget amendment from the Sheriff’s Second Dollar Training
Fund 608 in the amount of $115,000.
OBJECTIVE: To increase the budget to reimburse the Sheriff for education and travel expenses.
CONSIDERATION: Pursuant to Florida Statutes 318.18(11)(d), a two dollar court cost is assessed for
each infraction and deposited into the Second Dollar Education Trust Fund 608. The moneys can be used
for criminal justice advanced and specialized training and criminal justice training school enhancements
as provided under Florida Statutes 938.15.
Collier County Sheriff’s Office would like additional budget to cover education and travel expenses.
FISCAL IMPACT: A budget amendment in the amount of $115,000 is needed to move funding from
Reserves within the Second Dollar Education Trust Fund 608.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT: None.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, raises no legal
issue, and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners authorizes execution of the budget
amendment from reserves from the Second Dollar Education Trust Fund 608.
