EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve a Budget Amendment to appropriate funds reimbursed through
FDOT to Greater Naples Fire District for Paramedic -level service at Fire Station #63 on Alligator
Alley utilizing County Paramedics in the amount of $415,000.
OBJECTIVE: To continue staffing at Fire Station 63 on Alligator Alley apparatus with a County
Paramedic.
CONSIDERATIONS: Collier County entered into an Interlocal Agreement in 2014 allowing for the
lease, funding of personnel and equipping a fire station located at the Mile Marker 63 rest area on
Alligator Alley in Collier County to allow emergency vehicles to provide faster emergency response.
This Interlocal Agreement was amended in 2016 and again in 2017 as Greater Naples Fire Rescue District
took over management of the County’s Ochopee Fire Control District.
Great Naples Fire Rescue District continues to reimburse the County to provide Paramedic services, as
such an appropriation of funding is required.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funds will be available from FDOT through GNFD. A budget amendment in the
amount of $415,000 is required within EMS Match Fund 494, Project 33356.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, raises no legal
issues, and requires majority vote for approval. - JAK
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management Impact resulting from this
action.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approve a Budget Amendment to
continue Paramedic staffing for Fire Station 63.
