EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize a Budget Amendment to centralize the Sea Turtle Monitoring
budget by transferring existing budget in the amount of $30,000 from Park’s Beach and Water
Park Operations to Sea Turtle Monitoring Fund (119).
OBJECTIVE: To obtain authorization of a Budget Amendment for the Sea Turtle Monitoring Program.
CONSIDERATIONS: On February 13, 2018, to better qualify for future grant opportunities, the Board
of County Commissioners (Board) approved establishing a budget in Fund (119) to enhance reporting and
documentation of the Sea Turtle Monitoring Program. The budget that was created left a portion of Sea
Turtle funding in the Park’s Beach and Water Park Operations cost center. It has subsequently been
determined that centralizing the entire Sea Turtle Monitoring Budget in Fund (119) would provide better
documentation and reporting than the current split approach. Accordingly, authorization for a Budget
Amendment to centralize the Sea Turtle Monitoring Budget in Fund (119) is requested.
FISCAL IMPACT: A Budget Amendment in the amount of $30,000 reducing the Park’s Beach and
Water Park Operations budget (001-156363) and transferring the budget to the Sea Turtle Monitoring
Fund (119-156337-80377) will be processed. Because this action is centralizing existing budgets, the net
budget impact is zero.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This Item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, raises no legal
issue, and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management Impact.
RECOMMENDATION: To authorize a Budget Amendment to the Sea Turtle Monitoring Program
budget.
