WHEREAS, Temple Shalom of Naples was founded in 1962 as the Jewish Community
Center of Collier County; and,
WHEREAS, Temple Shalom of Nap/es has provided a spiritual home and social gathering
place for Jews in Collier County, past and present; and,
WHEREAS, Temple Shalom of Naples has served both the Jewish community as well as
the community at large; and,
WHEREAS, Temple Shalom of Naples is celebrating its 50th Anniversary; and,
WHEREAS, Temple Shalom of Naples has launched the "Our Torah- Scribing Our Future"
project as the congregation embarks upon its next 50 years; and,
WHEREAS, Temple Shalom of Nap/es, as a congregation and in conjunction with the
greater Jewish community of Collier County, will come together to write a
Torah in fulfillment of the 613th Commandment as stated in Deuteronomy
31:19, "Write for yourselves this song and teach it to the children of
Israel.."
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida, that Temple Shalom of Naples be recognized for its 50th
Anniversary and its accompanying project, "Our Torah- Scribing Our Future. "
