PROCLAMATION '
WHEREAS, the Collier County Recycling Ordinance Number 2009-56 established the Waste Reduction Awards Progrc
(the WRAP award); and,
f WHEREAS, the WRAP award recognizes businesses, institutions, and multi-family residences for enhanced and innovati
recycling programs; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is p/eased to recognize Arthrex, Inc., for contributing to the greate
good of Collier County by conducting business in an environmentally friendly manner, and promoting their greg
policy and the 'Reduce, Reuse, Recycle"messages through corporate management and staff, thereby he/pii
to prolong the usable life of the Collier County Landfill; and,
WHEREAS, the Arthrex, Inc. recycling, reuse, and source reduction program includes:
• Recycling all paper, plastic, glass, light bulbs and electronics. Placement of recycling collection containers fo
all recycling items in conveniently located areas.
• Reducing waste by providing each new employee with an Arthrex Tervis Tumbler to encourage the limited us•
of disposable cups throughout its facilities. Purchasing preference of all-natural or biodegradable cleaninn
materials reducing environmental risks.
• Implementing the chip spinning machine program, that separates chips (I.e., steel, titanium, and aluminum),
and capturing and reusing over 350 gallons of oil, then sending the remaining chips to be recycled.
• Installing motion-sensor light switches in all offices and adding high-tech, efficiency lighting to 50% of
manufacturing facilities, significantly reducing energy consumption and heat load.
• Implementing the lunch container program to promote recycling and reduce waste. The cafeteria serves over
700 lunches per day and the container recycling program collects over 500 clean containers daily to be sent
out for recycling.
WHEREAS, the WRAP award program includes a framed certificate, a trophy and space on the county's website
showcasing environmentally sustainable business practices and recycling programs; and,
WHEREAS, the Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Department congratulates Michael Dock, CSP, EHS Manager,
Rick Novak, Machine Operator and Green Team Leader, the Environmental Team volunteers, and all the staff
of Arthrex for their outstanding efforts to endorse reuse and recycling. "The Arthrex Green Team'
promotes waste reduction in all product development stages, product sales, and corporate facilities having a
significant effect on sustaining the usable life of the Collier County Landfill and protecting the environment.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that we congratulate
ARTHREX, INC.
for its continued contributions and efforts in recycling and for its Green Policy mission.
