Backup Documents 04/24/2012 Item # 4G4G PROCLAMA TION WHEREAS, "The Courage to Remember, " a photographic traveling exhibit, is a tribute to the millions of Jews and other individuals who suffered at the hands of the Nazis during the Holocaust, as well as an important lesson that strengthens future generations against all forms of discrimination, racism, anti- Semitism and hatred of others; and, WHEREAS, remembrance, vigilance and moral commitment are required if the lives of the victims of the Holocaust are to have an enduring meaning, and, WHEREAS, 'The Courage to Remember" is free of charge and open to the public, enjoying international acclaim for more than 20 years, and, WHEREAS, more than 2 million visitors have viewed the exhibit, making it the most widely attended traveling exhibition on Holocaust education and remembrance, and, NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that the Foundation for California, Collier County Parks and Recreation Department and the Holocaust Museum of Southwest Florida be recognized for bringing the "Courage to Remember" exhibit to the North Collier Regional Park from March 27, 2012 to April 6, 2012 to educate the community and remember those lost in the Holocaust.
