WHEREAS, the members of the Florida Army National Guard play an essential role in safeguarding
the rights and freedoms of Americans and unceasingly provide a vital public service to
Collier County citizens; and,
WHEREAS, it is important that all citizens know and understand the duties, responsibilities, hazards
and sacrifices of members of the Florida Army National Guard and recognize their duty
to serve the citizens by preserving life and property, protecting them from violence and
disorder and protecting the innocent from deception and the weak against oppression,
and,
WHEREAS, on May 24, 2011, the Department of the Army announced that the 856th Quartermaster
Support Company, 26dh Military Intelligence Battalion (L), 50th Regional Support Group of
the Florida Army National Guard, based in Immoka/ee, Florida, has been ca /led to active
Federal service, effective August 2012; and,
WHEREAS, members of the 8561 Quartermaster Support Company, 2600 Military Intelligence
Battalion (L), 50* Regional Support Group of the Florida Army National Guard have
received orders to deploy overseas for twelve months, and,
WHEREAS, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) wish to recognize members of the
Florida Army National Guard for their faithful and loyal devotion to their responsibilities,
and acknow ledge that they have rendered a dedicated service to their communities and,
in so doing, have established for themselves an enviable and enduring reputation for
preserving the rights and security of a// citizens; and,
WHEREAS, the BCCrecognizes those members of the Florida Army National Guard, post and present,
who, through their courageous deeds, have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their
country or have become disabled in the performance of duty, and pays respect to the
survivors of those fallen heroes, and
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida,
that the BCC expresses heartfelt gratitude and wishes of 6odspeed to this brave group
Of soldiers upon their deployment overseas in the service of their community and country.
