WHEREAS, many Americans are fortunate to have healthy eyes, mi /lions are
affected by low vision or blindness, leading it to be the second
most common disability; and,
WHEREAS, maintaining good vision requires early diagnosis and time /y
treatment of eye conditions; it is recommended that everyone
get vision check -ups regularly in order to identify vision
impairments at on early stage; and,
WHEREAS, by getting regular eye examinations, Collier County residents can
take advantage of the medical breakthroughs and research
underway at institutions such as the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute
of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine; and,
WHEREAS, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, urges all citizens to engage in
vision check -ups and healthy eating habits, and to educate and
dedicate themselves on achieving and maintaining healthy vision.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of
Collier County, Florida, that March 4 -10, 2012 be designated as
BASCOM PALMER'S SAVE YOUR VISION WEEK.
