WHEREAS, the people of Collier County recognize the vita/ importance of promoting chi ldren's
literacy and of building a community of enthusiastic and lifelong readers, and,
WHEREAS, the K is for Kids® Foundation and its Teen Advisory Team have an established
record of success in building a love of reading among children, particularly through
its Friends of the School Library program and Bring a Book, Bring a Friend®
Fun'raisers; and,
WHEREAS, the K is for Kids® Foundation has brought hundreds of children and adults
together to create a culture that treasures shared reading opportunities and
school libraries; and,
WHEREAS, the K is for Kids* Foundation has placed thousands of books on the shelves of
children 'F libraries and in the hands of eager young readers; and
WHEREAS, the organization believes that by encouraging today's readers, it can inspire
tomorrow's leaders.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proc laimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, that February, 2012 be designated as
K IS FOR KIDS® FOUNDATION'S BRIN6 A BOOK,
BRING A FRIEND® FOR CHILDREN:5 LITERACY MONTH
in hopes that a// of us wi // show renewed support for our school libraries and the
young readers who find know /edge, solace and inspiration within them.
