WHEREAS, the Band of the United States Air Force Reserve is the oldest band, active or
reserve, assigned to the Air Force, having continued from its formation on
October 1, 1941 at Mitchell Filed in New York to the present without a break in
service; and,
WHEREAS, the band of the United States Air Force Reserve is the First Air Force Band and
the official band of the United States Air Force; and,
WHEREAS, the Band of the United States Air Force Reserve is one of the finest musical
organizations in the Southeastern United States. The band travels in excess of
100, 000 miles per year, performing more than 400 concerts throughout their
primary geographic area of Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi;
and,
WHEREAS, they have traveled to all fifty states and many countries throughout the world
representing the United States Air Force; and,
WHEREAS, they have earned the title of "America's Band, "and
WHEREAS, Collier County is pleased that they have selected our county for a performance on
January 29, 2012 to be held at Sugden Regional Park as part of the CAPA
Bayshore Festiva! of the Arts.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, that January 23 -29 be designated as
THE BAND OF THE U. S. AIR FORCE RESERVE WEEK
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 24th Day of January, 2012
