PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Mar/a O/svig Ramsey served from 1997 to 2004 as the Collier County Parks and Recreation
Director and assisted in improving and expanding the parks system to provide interactive,
recreational experiences to residents and visitors; and,
WHEREAS, Marla brought forth the idea to develop the North Collier Regional Park to increase
tourism revenues, tournament quality athletic fields and to create unique park activities for
residents and visitors at Sun-N-Fun Lagoon; and,
WHEREAS, as Parks Director, Marla, assisted in the redevelopment of East Naples by constructing
Eagle Lakes Community Park and increased programs and facilities to Sugden Regional Park;
and,
WHEREAS, Marla served in the role of Public Services Division Administrator from 2004 to 2012; and,
WHEREAS, Marla increased access to the area's waterways through redevelopment of boating parks
including Bayview, Goodland, Caxambas and Port of the Islands and expanded beach access
by developing Connor Park and adding the Vanderbilt Beach parking garage to greater
beach access; and,
WHEREAS, Mar/a worked with the Library Director to improve educational opportunities for all Collier
County residents and visitors by building the South Regional Library and the Golden Gate
Library; and
WHEREAS, as the Public Services Division Administrator, `Marla lead the planning for the County's
newest park the Gordon River Greenway, a 124 acre passive, recreation park that will
include amenities such as a kayak launch, nature overlooks and walking pathways.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida,
that July 9'h, 2013 be designated as
MARLA OLSVIG RAMSEY DAY
