WHEREAS, the Mother Perry Youth Empowerment Project (MPYEP), Hodges University,
community leaders and organizations have partnered to present the 2013
Southwest Florida Spring Youth X- Plosion; and,
WHEREAS, this event brings together youth, parents and community leaders and organizations
to encourage younger generations to bridge the gap between themselves and their
communities; and,
WHEREAS, the primary objective of this endeavor is to empower participants to create
solutions to increase graduation rates and youth leadership and encourage the
implementation of S. T. E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) education
and purposeful living; and,
WHEREAS, on Saturday, March 23, 2013, Hodges University Naples will host the Southwest
Florida Spring Youth X- Plosion, which will include internationally known motivational
speakers and attract youth from over 25 Collier County schools; and,
WHEREAS, the MPYEP believes in empowering and challenging students to make a difference
in their lives and hopes that this free event will impact hundreds of Collier County
students to do so.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, that March 23, 2013 be designated as
COLLIER COUNTY YOUTH EMPOWERMENT DAY
which encourages students to dream big, plan big and lead big.
