Backup Documents 02/12/2013 Item # 4B PROCLAMATION 4 B WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of America is a true American institution chartered by the United States Congress, instilling timeless values in youth since its founding in 1910; and, WHEREAS, this national youth movement had made serving others through its values-based program its mission; and, WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of America has helped millions of youth succeed in life by living the Boy Scout Oath and Law; and, WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of America is committed to offering the opportunity of Scouting and its outdoor adventure to all youth regard less of race, creed, nationality or economic status; and, WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of America, Southwest Florida Council and its Cub Scouts Packs, Boy Scout Troops, Venturing Crews, Explorer Posts and Learning for Life programs are celebrating Scouting's 103"' anniversary in America; and, WHEREAS, there are more than 120 community organizations and 3,775 dedicated volunteers that make Scouting available for more than 19,000 youth members in Southwest Florida who participate in the Scouting program as a means of character building, citizenship training and personal fitness; and, WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of America is the largest organization in Collier County providing youth leadership training with over 1,000 youth and 400 adult volunteers participating; and, WHEREAS, citizens of Collier County express their appreciation to everyone whose participation in the Boy Scouts of America has created the greatest youth leadership program in the world. NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that February 2013 be designated as SCOUTING ANNIVERSARY MONTH DONE AND ORDERED THIS 12th Day of February, 2013.
