Agenda 12/14/2010 Item # 4C Agenda Item No. 4C December 14, 2010 Page 1 of 2 PROCLAMA TION WHEREAS, the Co/Her County Recycling Ordinance Number 2009-56 OQoptt!d by the BotJrd of County Commissioners established the Waste Reduction Awards ProgrtJtn (the WRAP award): and, WHEREAS, the WRAP award rt!cognizes businesses, institutions, and multi-family residences for enhanced and innovative recycling programs; and, WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is pleased to recognize Northgate Club Apartments for contributing to the greater good of Collier County by advocating the "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle" messages ttJ their residents, tenants, and stoff, thereby helping to prolong the usablf! life of the Collier County Landf1J/: and, WHEREAS, aspects of Northgate Club AptJrtments' rtlcycling and source reduction program includes; Increasing its single stream recycling containers from zero to four placed throughout the apartment complex ttJ collect cardboard, paper, plastics, glass, and aluminum. Adding one bottle-shaped ~cycling container placed next to the pool and clubhouse arlta to collect water bottles, aluminum cans, and glass, resulting in more recycling by the residents. Reducing the garbage pickup from four times per week to three times, which reduced the cost of their garbage fee and aI/owed management fo add one more single sfrttam recycling container throughout the apartment complex. Providing on excellent bulky Item collection program for the residents to dispose of their furniture, fixtures, household goods, and electronic materials sa they don't end up in the trash dumpster. And, WHEREAS. the WRAP award program includes a framed certificate, a trophy, use of the WRAP logo, and space on the colliergov.net/recycles webs;te showcasing eco-friendly business practices and recycling programs: and, WHEREAS, the Solid Waste Management DqJartment congratulates Coleen Fernandez, Moflt1ger, and all the staff of Northgate Club Apartments, for their outstanding efforts to promote waste reduction and recycling, promote environmental awareness, and setting Q positive example for other multi- family communities. Their initiatives will have a significant effect on sustaining the usable life of the Collier County Landfill I1nd protecting the environment. NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that we congratulate NORTHGA1F CLUB APARTMeJTS for their continued contributions ond efforts in recycling.
