PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, On October 12, 1492 Christopher Columbus, a son of Genoa, Italy,
discollelYd the Americas, and today, millions of Americans trace at least
a part of their ancestry to Italy, and many of the sons and daughters of
Italy have served the Nation and Collier County steadfastly over the
years in many different fields: and,
WHEREAS, the Naples Italian American Club is now known as the Naples Italian
American Club FDUlldation, and will be celebrating Columbus l>ay's annual
anniversary on October 10, 11, 12 and 13, 2010: and,
WHEREAS, the Naples Italian American Club Foundation 1MIIIbers have over the past
40+ years devoted many hours of volunteering time and effort to assist
many worthy causes within the community; and,
WHEREAS, the Naples Italian American Club Foundation has over the years supported
particular children's causes by donating and contributing to various
countywide projects such as: Special Olympics, Women's Abuse Center
Liberty Youth Ranch, Make a Wish FDUlldation, High School Scholarships,
Naples Equestrian Challenge, and Hospice of Naples,' and,
.
WHEREAS, Collier County Commissioners recognize the invaluable contributions of
Americans of Italian ancestry and with all Collier citizens support the
vital role that Italian-Americans have played in the development of our
nation and community.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of COunty Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida, that the days of October 10, 11, 12 and 13, 2010 be
designated as
ITALIAN AMERICAN CLUB FOUNDATION DAYS
DONE AND ORl>EREl> THIs 12'" l>ay of October, 2010.
