EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
COMMISSIONER REQUEST FOR BOARD APPROVAL FOR PAYMENT TO
ATTEND FUNCTION SERVING A VALID PUBLIC PURPOSE
OBJECTIVE: For the Board of County Commissioners to declare a valid public
purpose for a Commissioner to attend function/event and approve payment by the Clerk.
CONSIDERATIONS: Pursuant to Resolution No. 99 -410, the Board of County
Commissioners has determined that attendance at the functions of fraternal, business,
environmental, educational, charitable, social, professional, trade, homeowners, ethnic,
and civic association/organizations serves a valid public purpose, provided that said
functions reasonably relate to Collier County matters.
COMMISSIONER: Frank Halas
FUNCTION /EVENT: National Association for the Advancement of Colored People
(NAACP), 28th Annual Collier County Freedom Fund Banquet
PUBLIC PURPOSE: Meet and interact with business and community leaders
DATE OF FUNCTION /EVENT: October 16, 2010
FISCAL IMPACT: $65.00 —Paid from Commissioner Halas' travel budget.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners, in accordance with
Resolution No. 99 -410, approve payment by the clerk for Commissioner Halas to attend
function serving a valid public purpose.

for Diamonds" table. Dinner begins at 6:45 with the Keynote Speaker Rev. Frank
Peterman, Jr., Secretary of the Florida Department of the Juvenile Justice and
Mistress of Ceremony Lisa Reddick, Director of Programs for the Shelter for Abused
Women and Children. The Celebrity Auctioneer will be Collier County
Commissioner Jim Coletta.
