Film is considered fo be an important art form, a source of popular entertainment and a powerful method for educating citizens. The visual elements of cinema give motion pictures a universal power Of communication. Some films have become popular worldwide attractions by using dubbing or subtitles that translate the dialogue; and WHEREAS, a film festival is an organized, extended presentation of fi /ms in one or more movie theaters or screening venues, usually /n a sing le local /ty. The fi /ms may, depending upon the focus of the individual festival , include internafional releases as well as films produced by the organizers, domestic film industry'. and WHEREAS, the mission of the Naples International Film Festival is to nurture and support a diverse artistic and cultural experience with a creative, fun and cutting edge boutique film festival showcasing the work of independent filmmakers; and, WHEREAS, the film festival w /1/ improve the economics for Naples and benefit the community at large by collaboration with local art /sts and art organizat/ons to nurture and grow film and arts education in Collier County Schools and /n addition twenty five percent of this year's donations will go towards the Conservancy for wildlife; and WNSQ6AS, as a showcase event, the Naples International Film Festival will spotlight Southwest Florida and our talented pool of actors, writers, producers, and filmmakers and expand this film festival exponentially, so that Naples and Collier County could become an epicenter for the Entertainment Industry. NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, F10Nda, that November 4 through November 7, 2010 be designated as NAPLES FILM FESTIVAL WEEK DONE AND ORDERED THIS 26th Day of October, 2010 BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA FRED COYLE, CHAIRMAN ATTEST.
